As an exhibiting group SiX has existed in one form or another since 2001. We're a group of friends connected by a love of textiles, but each with interests in a wide range of creative arts and crafts.

Founded in 2001 the group has seen some members come and go. For several years we enjoyed working with talented artists Dawn Berry and Bobby Britnell, both of whom are now pursuing other projects. We have also been fortunate to have the pleasure of guest members Michelle Griffiths and Charlotte Yde. More recently Catherine Nicholls was welcomed as the newest member of the group. So for now, we are five.

We don't meet regularly, we don't help each other out with work in progress, but somehow, when we exhibit a new collection of work together, there's a connection, a balance and a harmony that only happens when everyone's on the same creative page. Each exhibition provides a fresh challenge of working to a new theme, a set of deadlines and the necessity to push our work on, to do our best and not let the others down.

SiX gives us the freedom to explore avenues other than the textile work that we are most known for. While we regularly exhibit quilts as part of SiX collections, visitors are just as likely to find painting, prints, dolls and sketchbooks on display. As a group we have no rules and no agenda, just a need to create.
